Verdict by age
Not a general rating. How each age band actually experiences it.
From three up this is the most fun per hour in Vienna, and teenagers will ask to come back for the big rides. Set a ride budget before you arrive, because it adds up fast. Toddlers enjoy the lights and the carousels and little else.
Rides operate daily from 15 March to 31 October. In winter only some open, and only in good weather. Behind the funfair lies the green Prater, a huge park where the city lists a children's playground on the Jesuitenwiese and others with water play, sandpits and slides. That is where to go when the noise and the spending get too much.
Tips for the visit
- Bring cash. The official FAQ says many rides accept nothing else.
- The Giant Ferris Wheel sells a combined ticket with the Liliput miniature railway: €16 adult, €8 for ages 3 to 14, at its cash desk.
- Some outdoor rides close in bad weather, so keep this for a dry day.
- The playground on the Jesuitenwiese in the green Prater is free.
