Verdict by age
Not a general rating. How each age band actually experiences it.
Ages 3 to 10 will remember the sharks and the animals loose in the tropical house. With a baby it works if you bring a carrier, because the stroller stays downstairs. Teenagers like the view from the top more than the tanks.
The building is tall and narrow, and that shapes the visit. A lift reaches every floor, but strollers are not allowed in the tropical house, the Congo aquarium or the Australia loop, and the house asks you not to bring large prams at all. Park the stroller by the cloakroom on the ground floor and carry the baby. Weekend and holiday mornings bring long waits, even with online tickets.
Tips for the visit
- Buy online, up to two months ahead, and walk straight to the gate.
- On weekdays an adult evening ticket costs €16 from 5:30 pm, sold only at the cash desk on the day.
- Cafe Sharky is open from 10 am to 7 pm and looks onto one of the tanks.
- Bring a baby carrier. You will need it on at least three floors.
