Haus der Musik with kids

The Haus der Musik is a museum of sound spread over several floors in the old town, with sections on the Vienna Philharmonic and the Viennese classical composers and many interactive terminals. The museum says children should be around five to use all of them properly. Younger ones are welcome and can enjoy selected rooms.

Great

From five to fourteen this is a good ninety minutes, especially on a wet day or a dark winter evening. Teenagers who play an instrument enjoy it most. For a baby it is comfortable for you and dull for them.

It is one of the most practical buildings in the centre for parents. Strollers are allowed, every floor has a lift, and there are changing tables on the ground floor, in the basement and on the 1st and 4th floors. It is open daily from 10 am to 10 pm, which makes it the rare museum you can do after dinner. Backpacks and jackets go in the cloakroom.

Tips for the visit

  • The family ticket pays off from two adults and one child.
  • Eating and drinking are not allowed in the exhibition, but you can break in the glass-roofed courtyard, which has a vending cafe.
  • There are free lockers opposite the ticket office.
