Old Town Hall Tower and Astronomical Clock with kids

The clock show is free and short. Every hour from 8 am to 11 pm the twelve apostles appear in the two small windows above the dial, and the crowd in the square watches from below. Small children need to be on shoulders to see anything and the show is short, so set expectations before you get there.

A good 45 minutes for any child old enough to enjoy a view, and the lift makes it possible with a baby. The clock itself underwhelms most children under six. Teenagers like the tower.

The tower is the better part for kids. A lift goes up, which is rare for a medieval tower, and the gallery looks straight down onto the square. There is a barrier-free entrance from Mikulášská Street and an accessible toilet on the third floor. From April to December it is open daily from 9 am to 8 pm.

Tips for the visit

The family ticket covers 2 adults and up to 4 children for CZK 750.
The apostles appear every hour from 8 am to 11 pm, so there is no need to rush for one particular show.
January to March the tower opens at 10 am and closes at 7 pm.
