National Technical Museum with kids

This is the rainy-day answer in Prague, and at CZK 80 for a child it is the cheapest big ticket in the city. The main building on Letná is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm. Plan on two to three hours. There is a guided mine tour as an add-on, with a minimum age of 3.

One of the few museums in Prague that works for the whole family at once. Ages 4 and up will be busy for hours, and teenagers who like engineering will want longer. Babies just come along for the ride.

Access is easy with a stroller. The step-free entrance is a ramp at the bottom of the stairs, to the right of the main door, and a lift connects the floors. There are lockers, a café and a shop. Letná Park is next door, with a playground and a carousel from 1894, which makes a good hour outside afterwards.

Tips for the visit

  • Bring a CZK 10 coin or a 50-cent euro coin for the lockers.
  • It is closed on Mondays unless the Monday is a public holiday.
  • Pair it with the playground in Letná Park next door.
  • Parking in front of the building costs CZK 65 an hour.
