Illusion Art Museum (IAM) with kids

This is the museum for children who are bored of looking at old things. It shows illusion art, from historical techniques to contemporary pieces, in a house on Melantrichova street just off Old Town Square. Most visitors spend 60 to 90 minutes, and a lot of that time goes on taking photos of each other inside the tricks.

Great

Ages 6 and up have a great hour here, and teenagers with a phone camera have an even better one. Toddlers do not get the illusions. Skip it with a baby.

It is open daily from 9 am to 8 pm, which makes it a useful late-afternoon stop when everything else nearby is winding down. Children under 6 enter free, but they are also the ones who get the least from it, because many pieces only work if you stand in the right spot and understand the joke. The museum is wheelchair accessible. Its restrooms are not.

Tips for the visit

  • Family tickets on weekdays: CZK 800 for 2 adults and 1 child, CZK 900 with 2 children, CZK 1,000 with 3.
  • Do not confuse it with the Museum of Fantastic Illusions on Vodičkova street, which is a different place.
  • Pair it with the Old Town Hall tower, which is around the corner.
