Itinerary
3 days in London with kids
Three days grouped by neighbourhood, so you cross the city once a day at most. Each day has one free stop and a natural place to rest.
Day 1
South Kensington museums and the playground
- Morning
- Start at the Natural History Museum at the 10:00 opening with a free ticket booked in advance. Pick two zones, then cross to the Science Museum next door. Under-7s go straight to The Garden on level -1, older ones to Wonderlab.
- Afternoon
- Walk north through Kensington Gardens to the Diana Memorial Playground. It is free, fenced and has a cafe with toilets beside it. Stay until they run out of energy.
- Break
- The walk through the park after lunch is the nap window for a child in a pushchair.
Day 2
South Bank, the river and the Tower
- Morning
- Book the first slot at SEA LIFE and a London Eye time about 90 minutes later. The two are next to each other on the South Bank. Use the toilets in the Eye ticket office before you board.
- Afternoon
- Cross to Westminster Pier and take the one-way cruise to Tower Bridge, which is 35 minutes of sitting down. With children of six and over, walk on to the Tower of London. With younger ones, stop here and call it a day.
- Break
- The boat is the rest. Small children often doze on it after a morning indoors.
Day 3
London Zoo and Covent Garden
- Morning
- Arrive at London Zoo for opening and do the children's zone and four or five enclosures. Eat lunch there before leaving. Three hours is enough for most under-6s.
- Afternoon
- Head to Covent Garden for the London Transport Museum. Children are free, and under-7s can play in All Aboard while older ones climb through the old carriages. Ninety minutes covers it.
- Break
- Plan the nap for the bus or pushchair transfer between the zoo and Covent Garden.
