Verdict by age
Not a general rating. How each age band actually experiences it.
School-age children and teenagers get the most from it. With a 3 to 5 year old it is fine if the queue is short. With a baby it is hard work because of the folded pushchair rule and the wait.
The queue is the real cost. The operator says 20 to 30 minutes on quiet days with a standard ticket and an hour or more at peak times. Your pushchair has to be fully folded before you join the boarding queue and stay folded on board, so with a baby you are carrying. You can leave it for free at the left luggage desk in the ticket hall.
Tips for the visit
- Everyone uses the toilet before boarding. Thirty minutes is a long time for a newly potty-trained child.
- Fast Track cuts the wait to 5 to 10 minutes on quiet days, according to the operator.
- Book online. The walk-up adult price is £10 higher.
