Fine for a wet afternoon and free for the children, but without the Children's Museum it is not a reason to rearrange a trip. From summer 2027 that changes. Check the reopening date before you go.

The reason families came was the Children's Museum, where kids climbed aboard a Viking ship and dressed up. It closes for good on 18 October 2026 and a new one is due in summer 2027. Until then this is a classic look-at-cases museum. It still works with school-age children for an hour or two, and it has a lunch room where you can eat your own food.

Tips for the visit

  • Free lockers take coats and bags.
  • Bring sandwiches. The museum has a lunch room for packed food as well as Café Daisy.
  • Closed on 24, 25 and 31 December.
