Experimentarium with kids

Experimentarium is the science centre north of the centre, in Hellerup, and it is built for children who cannot keep their hands off things. It opens at 9:30 every day of the year, which makes it the fallback when other sights are closed. Tickets are dated and cost 10% less online.

The best indoor half-day in Copenhagen for ages 4 to 14. Under-2s get in free but there is little for them. It is a bus ride out of the centre, so give it a proper block of time.

The practical side is well thought out. There is a picnic area for your own lunch, large lockers, a changing room on the first floor and breastfeeding facilities. Your ticket allows re-entry on the same day. Prams and strollers go everywhere except inside two exhibits, The Miniverse and The Valley, and there is parking for them outside both. Prices change by day and we could not read the current list, so check the shop.

Tips for the visit

  • Bring lunch. The picnic area is there for it and the ticket lets you come back in afterwards.
  • S-train lines to Hellerup or Svanemøllen, or metro M3 to Poul Henningsens Plads, all connect with bus 1A.
  • Buy online for the 10% discount. Tickets are only valid on the date printed.
