Mořský svět (Sea World) with kids

Mořský svět calls itself the largest marine aquarium in the Czech Republic and has been open since 2002. Do not expect Lisbon or Valencia. It is a compact indoor walk past tanks of sea fish, and a small child can see all of it in under an hour without getting tired.

Great for under-fives, who are happy with any tank at eye level. Children of 6 to 10 will like it for 45 minutes. Anyone older who has seen a big aquarium elsewhere will find it small for the price.

That is exactly why it works with babies and toddlers on a cold or wet day. It is open every day, public holidays included: 8:30 am to 6 pm on weekdays and 9 am to 7 pm at weekends. There are feeding sessions on Wednesdays at 3 pm and Thursdays at 1:30 pm. It sits at Výstaviště in Holešovice, next to Stromovka park, so you can pair it with a playground.

Tips for the visit

  • Time the visit for a feeding session: Wednesday 3 pm or Thursday 1:30 pm.
  • Stromovka park is next door, with playgrounds and toilets.
  • There is a night tour on the last Friday of each month at 7 pm.
