Aquarium Berlin with kids

Three floors in a building beside the zoo: fish and the shark reef on the ground floor, reptiles and a walk-through crocodile hall above, amphibians and insects at the top. It is compact and calm, and on a cold or wet day it suits babies and toddlers better than the zoo outside.

A safe choice from babies to about ten. Toddlers press their noses to the glass and you can be in and out in an hour. Older children like the crocodile hall. Teenagers will be done quickly.

A lift reaches every level and the ground floor has wide ramps. Handcarts are not allowed inside, but a bike trailer can stand in for a stroller. Toilets and baby changing are on the ground floor only, so go before you head upstairs. The combined ticket with the zoo saves money if you can manage both in one day. That is a lot for under-fives.

Tips for the visit

Lockers are available for a fee.
The cafe closes 30 minutes before the Aquarium.
The first floor with the reptiles has no seating, so rest on the ground floor first.
Commentated feedings happen only twice a week. Check the schedule before you promise one.
