IFS Cloud Cable Car with kids

The cable car crosses the river between Greenwich Peninsula and Royal Victoria Docks. It is short, cheap by London standards, and children from three find it exciting in a way the London Eye is not, because the cabin swings a little and you are over open water.

Ages three to ten love it. A baby will not notice, but it is easy with one. Teenagers enjoy the view and are done in ten minutes.

It is a long way east of the main sights, so it only makes sense combined with something else in Greenwich or the Docklands. Cabins take wheelchairs and buggies up to 80 cm wide, though staff may ask you to fold. A one-way crossing is enough. The round trip costs almost double and shows the same view backwards.

Tips for the visit

  • Buy a one-way ticket and continue on from the other side.
  • If anyone in the family dislikes heights, skip it. There is no way off halfway.
