Family card
Verdict by age
Not a general rating. How each age band actually experiences it.
Children from about eleven get something from the building and the audioguide. Younger ones like the ramp and the view for ten minutes. With a baby or toddler, only go if you want it for yourself.
The catch is paperwork. You must register in advance with the name and date of birth of every visitor, children included, and adults need original photo ID. Without a booking, the service centre near the building gives out leftover places, at least two hours ahead of the visit. The children's audioguide is in German only. For under-fives it is a lot of procedure for a short look.
Tips for the visit
- Visitors aged 16 and over must show an original ID card or passport. Copies are refused.
- Ages 14 and 15 need a document with name and photo, such as a student card.
- The service centre closes at 6 pm at weekends and from November to March.
- The audioguide comes in twelve languages and is not available when the dome is closed.
