Pavilhão do Conhecimento with kids

Everything here is built to be pushed, pulled and tested, so children run from one exhibit to the next and work things out by trying. The official average visit is an hour and a half. With curious six-to-ten-year-olds, plan for closer to three.

Fine

Best between 4 and 12. A three-year-old will enjoy pressing buttons without understanding much. For babies there is nothing to do, and older teenagers may find it young.

The ticket is valid all day and you can leave and come back, which makes it a good base for a Parque das Nações day: science in the morning, lunch outside, back in when it gets hot. There are ramps, lifts, lockers on two floors and a cafeteria. Children must be supervised by an adult, so this is not a place to sit and scroll.

Tips for the visit

  • The family ticket pays off with two adults and one child.
  • From 7 September it opens Tuesday to Friday 10 am to 6 pm, and weekends and holidays until 7 pm.
  • Keep the ticket. Same-day re-entry is allowed as often as you like.
