Seine River Cruise (Bateaux Parisiens) with kids

The boat leaves from the foot of the Eiffel Tower, passes the Invalides, the Musée d'Orsay, Notre-Dame and the Île Saint-Louis, then returns along the Louvre side. It lasts one hour and you get off where you boarded.

Ages 3 to 10 enjoy it most, and it gives parents a seated hour. Babies are fine on a lap. Teenagers tend to find an hour of monuments from a boat slow, though the evening sailings with the city lit up go down better.

For children the appeal is simple: bridges overhead, other boats, and nobody asking them to walk. The audioguide runs on your phone, so bring headphones. The operator says the commentary suits children from 4 and offers a children's version in French only. Toddlers watch the water for half an hour and then want to move, so pick seats near the outside walkway.

Tips for the visit

  • There is a version with a children's quiz fan called Les Incollables, at €12 or €13 per child.
  • You cannot get off partway. Do the toilet stop before boarding.
  • The operator does not publish a pushchair rule, so bring a model that folds.
