Aquarium de Paris with kids

The aquarium sits in the Trocadéro gardens, across the river from the Eiffel Tower. Children walk past tanks holding more than 13,000 fish and what the aquarium calls the largest jellyfish collection in Europe. Shows and family activities running that day are included in the ticket, without booking, as long as there is space.

Babies and toddlers are held by the jellyfish and the big tanks, and the whole route takes a pushchair. From 7 or 8 it is pleasant but short for the price. Teenagers will come along without complaint and not much more.

The aquarium says a visit takes an hour and a half to two hours. That is about right for small children, and older ones are done sooner. It is not cheap for its size, so book online, where dated tickets cost up to 20% less than at the desk. Once you leave, you cannot go back in.

Tips for the visit

  • Changing a booked ticket costs €2.50 per ticket, and cancellations are not possible. Be sure of the date.
  • You can carry a picnic in your bag but not eat it inside.
  • Scooters and large suitcases are refused at the door.
