Verdict by age
Not a general rating. How each age band actually experiences it.
This is the strongest indoor option in Paris for ages 2 to 10, and the one place on this list designed around them. Babies have a dedicated space. Over-11s have outgrown the children's area, and for them it comes down to whether the current exhibitions appeal.
Everything is hands-on, so children are busy and you mostly follow. Under-2s have a separate Cité des Bébés. The Cité des Enfants needs its own ticket, apart from the main exhibitions, and a combined ticket covers both. With under-6s the children's area alone is enough for one visit. The main exhibitions suit 8 and up.
Tips for the visit
- The Cité des Bébés costs €4.50 for the first adult and €2 for the second. The baby is free. Booking opens 7 days ahead.
- The exhibitions ticket is €4 for ages 2 to 5, so adding it for a small child costs little.
- Come by tram T3b if you have a pushchair. The ramp from the platform has a slope under 4%.
