Parc de la Ciutadella with kids

This is where you go when everyone needs to stop sightseeing. It was the first place in the city designed as a public park, with century-old trees for shade, a lake for rowing boats, and a monumental waterfall fountain with steps up both sides. Children hunt for the life-size stone mammoth and run on the paths.

Fine

Works for every age under 10 because it asks nothing of them. Teenagers will treat it as a rest stop, which is still useful.

It costs nothing and it sits right next to the zoo, a short walk from the old town and the port. An hour is enough for a break. Two hours pass easily if you take a boat out and have a picnic. There is no ticket and no slot to book.

Tips for the visit

  • Pair it with the zoo, which shares the same grounds.
  • The steps on the waterfall fountain lead to a viewing platform. Kids like the climb.
  • Bring food and eat on the grass.
