Verdict by age
Not a general rating. How each age band actually experiences it.
A hit from 2 to 10. Babies are fine but you will be folding the buggy with one arm. Older kids enjoy it as a way to get to the castle more than as a ride.
The ride is short, so plan what goes around it. The castle at the top charges its own entry, and the gardens next to it are a good place to let kids run. Under-4s travel free. To reach the lower station, take the Montjuïc funicular from Paral·lel metro. It is part of the metro fare system, so a normal ticket covers it.
Tips for the visit
- One-way tickets, €12 adult and €10 child, are sold only at the ticket office.
- Online return tickets cost €17.10 for adults and €11.70 for children.
- This cable car does not go to the port or to Barceloneta. It only runs on Montjuïc hill.
