Casa Batlló with kids

Casa Batlló is the Gaudí house that looks like it was built from bones and fish scales. Inside, children get an augmented reality tablet. They point it at a room and the furniture and creatures appear on screen, which keeps a 7-year-old going through what is otherwise an hour of looking at ceilings.

Great

From 11 it is a strong visit and the tablet helps from about 7. Under 6 it is an hour of do-not-touch for no reward.

The visit takes about 1 hour 15 minutes and runs over several floors, with two lifts kept for people who need them. Strollers are not taken round. Staff store yours and lend a baby carrier for under-2s. With preschoolers, skip the interior. Look at the facade from the pavement for free and spend the money elsewhere.

Tips for the visit

  • Children up to 12 enter free and still get the tablet.
  • Two lifts exist but priority goes to visitors with reduced mobility and pregnant women.
  • If you only want one paid Gaudí interior with young kids, choose Park Güell. They can run there.
