Tokyo Skytree with kids

The Skytree has two levels you can pay for: the Tembo Deck at floor 350 and the Tembo Galleria at floor 450. With children, the Tembo Deck alone is enough. The higher level costs noticeably more and a six-year-old will not tell the difference. What they do notice is the lift ride and how small the trains look.

School-age children and teenagers get the most from it, since they can pick out places they have been. Under-fives enjoy the lift and ten minutes at the glass, then want to move. Babies are no trouble but gain nothing.

Plan an hour, a little more if the sky is clear. Prices change by date, so the figures here are the lowest listed. There are nursing rooms for feeding and changing on the 1st and 4th floors, and toilets on the decks. If it is cloudy when you arrive, do the aquarium downstairs first and go up later.

Tips for the visit

  • Skip the combo ticket with younger children. Floor 350 is the one that matters.
  • Check the sky before you pay. On a hazy day the view is flat.
  • The Solamachi mall underneath has food courts for a meal before or after.
