Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo: The Making of Harry Potter with kids

This is a walk-through of sets, props and costumes from the Harry Potter films, in Nerima, two minutes on foot from Toshimaen Station. It is a tour with no rides, and that matters. A child who has seen the films will spend four hours pointing at things. A child who has not will be bored within one.

From about seven, for children who have watched the films, it is one of the best days in Tokyo. Under-sixes will tire long before the end, and the price is steep for a child who only wants the gift shop. Babies can come along in a pushchair.

The studio recommends three to four hours and there is no time limit once you are in. You must enter within 30 minutes of the time on your ticket. Pushchairs are welcome and can be borrowed free at the information desk, and every toilet block has baby changing. Book well ahead, because dates sell out.

Tips for the visit

  • Toshimaen is 17 minutes direct from Seibu Ikebukuro, or 20 minutes from Shinjuku on the Toei Oedo Line.
  • Tickets are non-refundable, so fix the date only when your plans are firm.
  • Coin lockers inside cost 300 to 1,000 yen and take cards and IC cards.
