Pantheon with kids

This is the short one. You walk into a single round room, look up at the hole in the roof, and children ask what happens when it rains. It does rain in, and there are small drains in the floor to find. That is the visit, and it takes twenty minutes.

Great

Works at every age because it is short and flat inside. Older children get more from it if they know the dome is nearly 2,000 years old.

It is still a church, so voices down, no food or drink inside. Under-18s are free but everyone needs a ticket. The square outside has a fountain with steps to sit on, and good ice cream is a few streets away in any direction. Pair it with Piazza Navona, five minutes on foot, where there is more room to move.

Tips for the visit

  • Go on a rainy day if you get one. Watching rain fall through the roof is the best version of this visit.
  • Mass is Saturday at 17:00 and Sunday at 10:30, and tourist entry pauses around it.
  • Free on the first Sunday of the month, with tickets collected on site.
