A sure thing for small train fans from 2 to about 8. Babies are easy here because it is flat and enclosed. Older children with no interest in trains will be done in half an hour.
On some days a garden railway, the Tren de Jardín, gives rides outside for a separate fee paid on the spot. Ask at the desk when you arrive. The museum's service charter confirms access with a baby stroller and a baby-changing space. Mind the hours: from October to May it closes at 15:00 on weekdays and Sundays, and stays open until 19:00 only on Saturdays.
Tips for the visit
- The 3 for €15 offer covers two adults and one child aged 4 to 12.
- June to September it only opens 10:00 to 15:00.
- Matadero and the south end of Madrid Río are a short walk away for the afternoon.
