Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales with kids

This is the dinosaur stop. Children walk under a Diplodocus skeleton, stand next to a Megatherium, and find the giant squid. The rest is cases of stuffed animals, minerals and fossils in an old-fashioned building. It is more for looking than touching, but the scale of the skeletons does the job for most 3 to 10 year olds.

Great value for ages 3 to 10, especially dinosaur fans. Babies can come along in a stroller. Over-11s will walk through in forty minutes.

The museum is small. An hour and a half covers it, which makes it a good rainy-day or too-hot-outside plan. It closes on Mondays and shuts at 17:00 on weekdays, 15:00 in August. The tourism office lists lifts and a ramp at the rear entrance.

Tips for the visit

  • Closed Mondays, except public holidays.
  • Free tickets for the free slots are released on the museum website until capacity is reached.
  • There is a café on site.
